Memorial Day was borne out of the Civil War and a desire to honor those who fell in service of the United States. It was originally called “Decoration Day,” and officially declared a federal holiday in 1971.
Most cities have armed forces ceremonies to honor the fallen. Check your city and park calendars to find one near you. Take a moment to remember those who fought and died for our country.
